Oscar Pistorius & Reeva Steenkamp Shooting, Is This A Horror Movie Or Drama?
Is Reeva Steenkamp’s shooting a horror movie or a drama movie? I know this title sounds insensitive if you think about the recent murder allegedly committed by famous paralympic hero Mr. Oscars Pistorius. There has been many recent stories in the news covering this shock of an event that happened on Valentine’s Day.
When I got word of this via a WhatsApp message from my wife, I thought at first this was another hoax, but then when I clicked the link and it was a story published by the Mail and Guardian I knew this was true and in fact really happened. At first the media said that “Oscar had mistaken Reeva Steenkamp for an intruder and this is why he shot her”. But later the police made it clear that there was no truth to that story and they wonder how the media came about it.

The long waits is over and as you know by now he got bail at R1 millon. So now the investigations will continue and we will see how the case turns out when he appears in court.
[Update 21 February 2013] Lead Detective In The Case Botha Accused Of Attempted Murder
Read all about it at dailymail.co.uk. Botha allegedly opened fire whilst drunk on a taxi filled with 7 people that are now dead in 2009. The case that was dropped last year, dramatically were reopened again yesterday.

Shot 3 Times? Did Oscar Pistorius Shoot Reeva Steenkamp In Anger?
Without Prejudice:
I wonder how any one can shoot another person more than 2 times if it is clear that person is not coming any closer to you, or if it is not needed in any way to defend yourself? I personally feel if any one shoots another person more than 2 times it is an act of passion, anger, love, fear or even rejection or most probably in this case “an inferiority complex“.
I also do believe there might be drugs involved and a case of drug abuse. If the police only took Oscar for a toxicology report we would have known if this would be true or not.
As Professor Stephan Tuson from Wits explained, commenting on Reeva Steenkamp and Oscar Pistorius event:

According to Stephen Tuson, adjunct professor at the school of law, Wits, claiming self-defence can only work if you are the subject of an attack which is unlawful. If the attack has commenced or is imminent then you are allowed to use reasonable force as is necessary to repel that attack.
Police spokesperson Denise Beukes has confirmed that there were previous incidents of domestic nature at the Pistorius residence. Now that in itself tells me there was a pattern forming, the police was there earlier that morning as well for a domestic complaint.
I wonder why the police never took more action the first time they came to the house with there being a history of domestic violence?

It is really going to be interesting to see how this case turns out and what the final findings will be on Oscar Pistorius and the late Reeva Steenkamp murder.

Recent Update That A Bloody Cricket Bat Has Been Found And Steenkamp’s Scull Was Crushed [Update - 18 February 2013]
The independent city press reported that police sources close to the case has reported that there was a cricket bat found with blood and Steenkamp’s scull was crushed. They are now further investigating to find out if this bat was used by Steenkamp for self defence or if she was hit with the bat.
This story gets more interesting every moment that passes and I believe the truth will soon come out on all outstanding areas or matters. All I can say is WOW!
I just read online at guardian.co.uk that police are in deed sending Oscar Pistorius for drug tests:
The well-respected City Press newspaper reported that a cricket bat covered in blood was found at Pistorius’s home and is the central piece of evidence against him. Citing sources close to the investigation, the paper said Steenkamp’s skull was crushed and police requested Pistorius undergo drug tests.
I wonder if he will test positive, maybe cocaine? And Oscar Pistorius Banned?
Update [19 February 2013 11AM] – Oscar’s Bail Hearing
Here are some points that was reported by news24.com relating to his bail hearing:
10:42 – Nel: We don’t know what the accused was thinking, we have cold facts – two people in the house, one locked in bathroom…
10:39 – Nel: There were just two people in the house – why didn’t he ask where is my girlfriend?
Nel: This woman was in a 1.4m x 1.4m room, she could go nowhere. When those shots went off it must have been horrific.
10:38 – Nel: “I walk seven metres, I see a bathroom door, I shoot… The motive is to kill.”
10:37 – Nel: it wouldn’t be correct for me to venture into the motive now. We can say that there was a motive to kill
10:37 – Nel: Steenkamp locked herself into the toilet in the early hours of the morning. There are inferences that can be drawn.
10:34 – Nel: He got up from a bed, put on his prosthesis, armed himself and walked 7 metres.” It’s not: “There was someone standing over my bed.”
10:34 – Roux concludes. Nel stands up: “I’m now more convinced [this is premeditated].”
10:33 – Pistorius blows into his hankie. He’s been crying throughout the hearing. He looks exhausted, says @karynmaughan.
10:30 – [Roux] says prosecutor suggests there was an argument: “Has he evidence that this was not a good relationship? He does not.”
10:30 – Roux: What is there in the state’s case to say he didn’t mistake her for a burglar?
Roux: All we know is that she locked the bathroom door and he shot, thinking she was a burglar.

09:49 – Nel: “The state only has its own version of the facts. The applicant has not furnished a version of any sort.”
09:49 – Nel: The accused fired four shots, three killed the woman. She locked herself in the bathroom; a shot through [the] door.
